Tiger's Lair Masthead

Fall Campout BIG Success
The fall campout was a great success, thanks to Jeff Klemm's hard work and the wonderful weather. More than 80 scouts attended and, with families, we had more than 200 people altogether.

Webelos Woods Rained Out
Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate for the planned Webelos Woods campout. Because of flooding, Camp Brosig was uninhabitable during the Golden Arrow District's planned weekend. Webelos Woods has now been rescheduled for the weekend of January 16-17, which will give everyone involved the opportunity to brush up on their winter camping skills. All Webelos should talk with their den leaders and reconfirm whether they will be attending.

Spring Campout Set For Indian Reservation
Looking still further ahead, mark your calendars for the spring family campout, which will take place on March 27-28 at the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Reservation. John and Vicki Brentin have agreed to be the coordinators for the campout, and they are making plans for a variety of activities that will involve Indian themes. It should be a very special weekend.

Scout Fair and Box Hockey
The annual Sam Houston Council Scout Fair will take place on Saturday, December 5, from noon to 6:00 pm at the Astrohall. Having worked with "macaroni art" last year, the Pack will return to sponsoring box hockey competition this year. Joe Larrow has agreed to serve as the coordinator of the booth. At next week's Pack committee meeting, den leaders can sign up for times to staff the booth.

Christmas Service Projects
Once again this year, the Pack will participate in two service projects during the Christmas season. First, we are being asked by the Sam Houston Council to bring canned goods to the scout fair. Second, the Pack will provide clothes and toys to one or two families identified by Sister Virginia as needing assistance. Den leaders will receive more information on both projects at the Pack committee meeting.

Turkey
Pinewood Derby
January is Pinewood Derby month. The workshop will be held on Saturday, January 9, from 9:00 to noon in the Scout House. The Derby itself will be run on Saturday, January 23, beginning at 8:30 in the gym. John Stavinoha has agreed to be the pinewood Derby coordinator, and promises (with the help of the Pack's new scale and electric eye finish line) the best racing ever. For those who can't wait till the workshop to get started on vehicle construction, the rumor is that our Santa Claus Cubmaster will be distributing the kits at the December Pack meeting.

The January Pack meeting will be delayed one week, tram the lath to the 21st, because of a conflict with the annual Golden Arrow District Awards Dinner. As a result, the January Pack committee meeting will be held on the 28th.

Race Car
Scout Fair Ticket Sales Set Record
Thanks to the leadership of Kathy Cortright, the Pack met with great success in selling Scout Fair tickets. Between our share of the ticket revenue and the donations which we received, the Pack earned approximately $1,500. As a result, the Pack committee has decided to pass half of the revenue on to the dens, with the distribution based on the number of boys in each den who participated in selling tickets. This should help each den meet the cost of its crafts projects and o ther activities during the year, and (hopefully) encourage even greater sales efforts next year.

Blue and Gold Preparations
The Blue and Gold Banquet will be held on Thursday, February 11, in the Parish Family Center. Hugh and Peggy Idstein have again volunteered to coordinate the overall decorations of the room. However, each den will be responsible for creating the centerpiece for their own table.

Joke

Why do turkeys go gobble gobble gobble?

Because they never learned good manners.
